My Dad!

I am so lucky to have far too memories of my Dad to actually share on her. How lucky am I to have had my Dad until I am 49 years old? Which memories do I share?
I think will just tell you about my Dad, Robert William Lowery! He was a true character! Have you ever seen the Grandad on the Heinz soup adverts... well if you have you will understand what I mean when I tell you that my Dad could tell stories like him! My Dad was a true legend at his story telling. He would begin with one story and digress so many times that you forgot what story he had started with. He captivated me as a kid. One of his best stories was about how he had visited Santa in Greenland... yep I thought Santa lived in Lapland but not according to my Dad. As it happens Dad was on the fishing trawlers in the 70's at Christmas time and they made a stop to Greenland. It just so happened that Santa was there too. Well Dad was not expected home for Christmas but apparently Santa told him that my brother and me only wanted one gift and that was Dad home for Christmas!!! Well not only did we get our gift but Dad brought what appeared like a truck load of fish home too!! He knocked on all the neighbours to ask if they wanted any fish, to be teased by one who said 'Bob, did you not know it's traditional to have turkey for Christmas' Oh just one of many little ditties I could tell you about my Dad! I loved him loads xx
